African Sun Wines is the brand owner for MARA Wines and is a leading exporter of South African wine to growing international markets worldwide.
The company was founded in 2006 by the Sahi family. Through our experience in the wine industry and a shared vision we created a range of wines that provide tangible value for money and build consumer trust whilst placing an emphasis on social and ecological responsibility. We created a truly African brand to win the hearts and minds of the most price and quality conscious wine consumer.
Inspired by Kenya – the MARA range was specifically developed to meet the demand of a good quality, well priced entry level wine for the tourist dominated lodges and beach resorts. The wine was so well appreciated that it quickly became a household name in the local market and began to retail in leading supermarkets.
A key feature of this brand is that the beads that decorate the bottles are a means for us to provide groups of women with empowerment opportunities to create their own business so that they can produce and sell the beads to us and learn lost artisanal skills.
